A vivid yellow Baroque jewel, Melk Abbey, or Stift Melk, is the most famous abbey in Austria. Set high above the River Danube, the abbey is the focal point of the charming town of Melk and is currently a school that caters for nearly 900 pupils. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
