Your Program Leader is the continuity: the person who knows everyone's name by day two and handles the logistics behind the scenes, so a delayed train or a change of plan is their problem to solve, not yours.

At each destination, a local guide joins the group — someone who actually lives there, who knows the history, context and details a general tour leader can't carry for every city on earth.

It's a deliberate structure, not a cost-cutting one: continuity from one person, depth from another. For a smaller group — Odyssey never runs more than 14 travellers — occasionally only a Local Tour Manager leads the trip directly, which is a genuine trade rather than a diminished version of the same thing.
