Once part of the Aragonese Empire, Catalonia is now an autonomous Spanish province, proud of its distinctive language and culture. Stretching from the Mediterranean to the Pyrenees, it was here that the Romans first landed on the Iberian peninsula and founded a new “colonnia” on the site of a previous Carthaginian settlement, the area now forming Barcelona’s “Barri Gotic.” Catalonian heritage is a mixture of old and new as ancient churches and monuments vie for attention with the Modernist school of Gaudi and Dali. The Catalonian capital reflects this contrast with architecture ranging from its Gothic cathedral to Gaudi’s modernist Sagrada Familia.

Tour Reviews

Very comprehensive tour of Spain.
Good value for money. Great tour leader and individual tour guides in each city. The tour has confirmed again for me the value of local knowledge – this enables you to do so much more with fewer hassles and time wasting.

The tour was good value for money, we covered a lot of ground and saw most of Spain. Local knowledge (of Stephan plus the individual guides in each city) was invaluable. All the guides were very good.

I would like to say thank you to Anna in the Sydney Office for her very cheerful helpfulness.

Discovering Iberia with program leader Stephan De Roeck and well chosen local guides was a most interesting and rewarding experience. The range of places visited was excellent, and the itinerary, though very full, was planned so as to give us more than one night in most of our stops. The small group size and warmth of our leader made for excellent camaraderie. I highly recommend this tour.
